Mukasey Visits Guantanamo
Attorney General Michael Mukasey made his first trip to the United States military detention facility in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Here's some of the information he came back with:
-Terror suspects are given full access to people who dress just like lawyers
-The bay contains a unique nocturnal species of bird whose singing sounds like cracking whips and faint screams for help
-Gift shop really needs to start carrying childrens' sizes
-Cuba pretty
-Some prisoners reported to have family members, favorite foods back home
-You can throw a rock and hit the Cuban guard tower
-Detainees' production of Fiddler On The Roof was abysmal
-It's kind of like a middle-school sleepover in that no one is actually falling asleep, and if they did, someone would do something terrible to them

Civil Rights and the Decline Thereof

I feel that we, as citizens of the United States, are losing our preciouse civil rights. Our government has been corrupted by partisionship and paper patriotism. Our Constitution is being trampled.
I intend to create a forum of intelligent insight into what is happening to our world.
Science and reason will rule here. Physdo-science and myth will be ignored.
My sources will generally be; The Denver Rocky Mountain News, The Washington Post, The Financial Times of London, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Los Angeles Times, The Chicago Tribune, The Boston Globe, The Onion, Slate, Salon.com and The Pine River Times as the daily papers. My reading is varied. I subscribe to: The New Yorker magazine, Wired magazine, and the Freedom From Religion Foundation newsletter. My favorite novels are Catcher in the Rye, Catch 22, Huckleberry Finn, and One Hundred Years of Solitude. I watch: The Lehrer Report, The Daily Show, Southpark, The Simpsons and just about anything on PBS.
I am a member of MoveOn, American Civil Liberties Union, the Denver Botanic Gardens, The Denver Art Museum and Freedom From Religion Foundation.
I feel that it is my responsibility, as a concerned citizen, to speak out and share the truth.

I was recently retired as a Professional Land Surveyor for over thirty-five years. I have two children who are graduated from college and are successfully working in their chosen fields. I live in Denver, Colorado. I believe that the separation of the church and state is a very important concept in our Constitution. Our civil rights are being trampled by this administration. My civil rights are rapidly receeding as Big Brother continues to watch.
