Gitmo Guilt

Friends,
Prosecuting 'the driver', Salim Hamdan, "was kind of like using the hand grenade on the horsefly." What fools we look like.

Peace and Love,

Those Gitmo surprises Chicago Tribune Editorial

"The question now is whether the Pentagon will release Hamdan once he's completed his sentence and let him go back to his native Yemen (or some other country that would accept him). The administration has said it has the right to keep him locked up indefinitely as an enemy combatant, regardless of the sentence. But given what came out at the trial, it's hard to see a good reason it should."

"Absent some evidence that Hamdan is likely to return to the fight, it would be a waste of money to continue holding him once he has served his sentence. For the administration to let him go would demonstrate its commitment to some basic level of fairness in its handling of accused war criminals. It would also surprise the world."
