Friends,
This is very important! al Sadr's Mahdi army has been quiet until now under "his" cease-fire order. Everyone is armed and all want power and the money that comes with it. These are corrupted, religious groups, armed and ready to die for their causes. The police are amongst the most corrupt of all and now are fighting for "their share". Al Sadr is a thug and always has been. Maliki is feeling the pinch from all sides. There is no "good guy" in this struggle. Everyone has an agenda and a rifle. Our soldiers are going to be in the middle of another maelstrom in this continuing Civil War. The country of Iraq is unravelling and our soldiers are "in harm's way" with no definable plan. They are being sacrificed for the oil under their feet.
Peace and Love,
Rev O
"BAGHDAD — Heavy fighting continued for a second day Wednesday in two of Iraq’s largest cities, as Iraqi ground forces and helicopters mounted a huge operation to break the grip of the Shiite militias controlling Basra, and Iraqi forces clashed with militias in Baghdad. The fighting threatened to destabilize a long-term truce that had helped reduce the level of violence in the five-year-old Iraq war."
"If the cease-fire were to unravel, there is little doubt about the mayhem that could be stirred up by Mr. Sadr, who forced the United States military to mount two bloody offensives against his fighters in 2004 as much of the country exploded in violence."
