Help

Friends,

I have sent this to the letters to editor of RMN.

Rev O
Editors,
In regard to your Speakout piece in the Sunday paper of December 16th:

For what reason do you use valuable print space on a "Speakout" column that is obviously flawed, and indeed, detrimental. You and I know. We know that global warming is a very complex and very pressing problem. Then why do you print this ridiculousness? Your paper is a powerful tool and needs to be used to disseminate the truth, the scientific truth. It can be argued that these uninformed and outspoken people need their say also. No. The earth is round. Gravity holds us to the surface of the earth. Global Warming is a very real and imminent danger. I think that you owe us, the readers, the truth. By printing these types of messages you propagate the spreading of false and misleading information. We are, as many have said, at a tipping point in global climate change. We are going to be facing arduous decisions in the very near future. These decisions must be based upon sound scientific theory. Knowledge is power.
In the same edition you quote "a senior scientist at the government's snow and ice data center in Boulder, as saying, "The Arctic is screaming."
The Earth is screaming. Your voice must be loud and truthful.
I have been proud of our city having two daily papers. I felt that they were reasonable papers and generally well written. Please, use your strong voice to help us, not confuse us.
If it were possible, I would enjoy having a discourse with your two editors.

Steve M. Olson
